After installing the XTRONS ceiling monitor, I learned that Mitsubishi itself offered a ceiling monitor, but it was only available for the Outlander/Pajero. Since it's fully integrated into the MMCS, I really wanted it. But give up a great Android ceiling monitor for that? NO! I looked for an alternative way to use its functions. The only option was the trunk. So I started searching and found a brand new one, and not expensive at all. Since it was going to be installed in the trunk, I had to make the cables extra long. And I also ran an infrared sensor to the front so I could control it (it would be silly to only be able to operate it from the trunk... ^^). In combination with the MMCS and the Rockford amplifier from the Pajero (which I had previously installed), the OEM ceiling monitor unfolds its full potential. It can play DVDs, audio DVDs, and CDs. With DVDs, it also transmits the sound to the amplifier via a special DIN cable – DTS Surround Sound 5.1. And this cable is amazing. Why? I've only seen it once before and just bought it... Without this cable, it's only a fraction as good... There are three remote controls available, two of which offer additional functions and are a perfect visual match for the MMCS. One of these remotes dates from 2006 and allows for direct volume control—the perfect upgrade! A great project that brings many new features.

Opening the trunk with strong gas springs is simply a luxury. Since I use my Lancer as my daily driver and I need the trunk for luggage, I took this a step further. My trunk can be opened with a foot gesture or even remotely via the internet. So it's really convenient and practical when you have both hands full.

Along with the alarm system, I had a reversing camera installed in 2011. I was never a fan of parking sensors, but with a 7" navigation system, the reversing camera is definitely worth it. As part of the MMCS modifications, I also changed the reversing camera's guidelines and added my logo and the Mitsubishi logo. When I saw a video of a newer car where the reversing camera cleaned itself using a nozzle, I decided to build something like that myself. I use the function very often, especially in winter. It's really convenient not having to constantly get out and clean it; just press a button and it's done.

The foundation for many upgrades is the core component, the MMCS E-06. It is the latest in its series and has all the features in its firmware. Instead of the 40GB hard drive (which came with the E-02/30GB model), I installed a 160GB IDE hard drive from Samsung. Everything worked perfectly with this one, and it's really inexpensive. Now the music server has a capacity of 126GB; I currently have 34GB of music stored on it, which is equivalent to about 500 CDs. I also customized various backgrounds and reprogrammed the startup animation to display my logo. I also have an SSD, but since there's hardly any difference in speed, storage space for the music server is more important to me. The MMCS can of course also play DVDs, which is fantastic in combination with the Pajero's 860W amplifier, especially since DTS is now available. I also installed a 24-hour clock and the DVD in Motion upgrade. Since the AUX input isn't affected by this update, I installed the MMCS TV kit from Japan. I love the MMCS, so I would never trade it for an Android device....

Behind the windshield in the center is a dummy unit that I previously thought was for an alarm system. However, a few years ago I learned that it's actually for a light sensor. I wondered why, since I already had a light sensor installed. Further research revealed that in some countries, this sensor wasn't mounted on the windshield, but instead a light sensor was installed at the bottom. There are three different versions of this: Light sensor only Only the photo sensor Both sensors in a single module For my project, I only need the sensor for the air conditioner (Photosensor). This comes with a cable. Installation is very simple: The dummy unit must be removed, the cable is pulled through the opening behind the speedometer and plugged in. Activation is not required. The sensor measures the intensity of the sunlight and controls the air conditioning in automatic mode. More sunlight causes the air conditioning to work harder, while it runs less efficiently in the shade. A significant improvement to the automatic air conditioning!

Since 2009, constantly replacing or renewing parts has resulted in a large accumulation of car parts. In 2024, my basement became too small, so I decided to get a storage unit. It's simply practical and nice to have everything in one place and to display rare Mitsubishi parts. As a Mitsubishi enthusiast, I also collect Evolution and Final Edition parts.

These floor mats, specially manufactured for the Final Edition, were a very exclusive accessory. Naturally, they haven't been available new for a long time. Therefore, you have to buy what you can get... Used ones, I spent a whole day cleaning these, and some dirt came out. I only use these floor mats at meetings, thus protecting them. For everyday use, I pressed the OEM rubber mats in using Lancer.

This emblem was the beginning of my Final Edition collection. I never thought I'd own such a rare piece of Mitsubishi history... I spent a long time considering where to place it in the Lancer, but ultimately decided on the perfect spot to honor the pre-edition model. Since the first Mitsubishi meet in 2012, I've installed blue LEDs in the interior and have continued to do so. I've since expanded the system. I've installed blue LEDs in the door handles and door stays, as well as below the doors to make it easier to see where I'm stepping in the dark. My ignition lock is illuminated in blue, and there's also footwell lighting. It is rounded off with the blue/white starry sky that is presented as an extra.
